Description:Following the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Firefighter I & II standard, this program blends theory, lab practice, and field experience. Students will be expected to perform fire related duties at a considerable height or in very confined spaces in preparation for entry into the firefighting profession. Prepare yourself for an exciting career as a professional firefighter, or in related employment.

Admission Requirements


These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade11 Mathematics 

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (Level C) and Standard First Aid Certificate are required before starting the program.

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60]

Physical Activity Readiness (PAR-Q Plus) and recommended Flu vaccination. Accepted candidates must meet the health requirements of field placement settings
