Description:

The program, developed collaboratively between Nunavut Arctic College and Dalhousie University, is a four year program that focuses on nursing in Nunavut. It is a response to a need for professional nursing education that is accessible to Inuit and relevant to health care in Nunavut. The BScN (Arctic Nursing) is granted by Dalhousie University and provides nurses with necessary skills to provide nursing care in a variety of settings including community health centres.

  •  Grade12 English  or  Grade12 First Nations Studies 
Applicants must be 17 years of age or older, have completed Grade 12 with a Grade 12 credit in Inuktitut or English, Mathematics, and Science.
Application Notes : A letter of interest explaining the applicant's interest in the Nursing program, a letter of support from a health care professional, and two letters of reference from either a community leader, employer, or other authority, such as a teacher are required.

Applicants must pass a criminal records check by the RCMP and have current immunization prior to starting any clinical placement in a health facility. The required immunizations include: DPTP (diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B and titre, and a Mantoux test done annually. Applicants must also have been a resident of Nunavut for at least one year prior to application.
