Description:

Some of life’s most pressing issues concern gender. Women’s and gender studies will allow you to examine significant differences in the experiences of others in Canadian society and around the world. The Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) program at Acadia emphasizes the importance of gender as a category of critical analysis in areas such as scholarly activity, education, social relationships, cultural expression, and politics. Women’s and Gender Studies is offered as a major and honours in the Faculty of Arts, and students from all faculties can minor in WGS or pursue it as a second major. There are four core courses, with the rest of the program chosen from cross-listed courses offered in all three faculties on a rotational basis. This means that you will have the opportunity of taking courses from a range of different disciplines, all chosen for their inclusion of themes and issues related to women and/or gender.
