Description:

Are you interested in how people learn new languages? Explore theories and issues in additional-language teaching and learning. You'll get teaching experience in our language-teaching practicum and you’ll observe seasoned teachers in the classroom.

Diploma applicants must complete a UVic bachelor degree or equivalent before admission to the Applied Linguistics Diploma Program.

Students who have completed the UVic degree in Applied Linguistics or its equivalent may not register.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants must have completed a University of Victoria Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent including at least 6 units of courses in English and 6 units of modern second language courses.
    Test Scores:
    • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
