The University of South Alabama Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program provides the skills necessary for a rewarding career. Graduates are prepared to complete the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN® exam) and may be eligible to apply for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and to continue with graduate study. The pre-licensure BSN program meets the requirements in all states to apply for licensure as a registered nurse upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN exam. University of South Alabama nursing graduates have outstanding outcomes. Employment rates are also outstanding. More than 90 percent of graduates find professional employment immediately. Within six months of graduation, virtually all who desire nursing jobs have found them. |

Admission is selective* and competitive. The curriculum is fast-paced. The College of Nursing reserves the right to select students determined to be the best qualified and most likely to succeed in this challenging nursing program.
Requirements: - Submission of a completed application with a $50 fee.
- Applicants must have completed all prerequisite course work (as listed on this website) with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 ("A"=4.0).
- Minimum grade of “C” in all prerequisite courses.
- Be in good standing within the University.
- Submit unofficial transcripts from other universities to the College of Nursing via email ([email protected]) for review of prerequisite courses.
- Students who have attended a Nursing program at another school are required to provide the following to the College of Nursing email at [email protected]
- Letter of Good Standing (verifying student was in good moral, ethical, and legal standing with no previous disciplinary action)from the Nursing Program, signed by the Nursing Administrator of the program
- Transcript of all nursing courses taken with the grades earned
- Transfer credit will be considered upon review of course syllabi
- Students dismissed from a previous nursing program may be considered as follows:
- Admission will only be considered for the Traditional BSN program
- Students will compete for a seat among all other applicants to the program.
- All previous nursing courses will be evaluated and accepted based on college and University requirements.

Notification of missing documents will be sent to your personal email account provided on your application. Only students who have successfully completed the Acceptance Packet in its entirety, have a negative drug screen and acceptable background check, and completed all required portions of the Medical Documents Manager will be permitted to register for classes. If a student is unable to meet the initial registration requirements, they may transfer their first semester of enrollment to a future semester. |
