AUR’s Food Studies program examines the connections between the production, distribution, and consumption of food, focusing on sustainability criteria. Our graduates work in areas of food policy as well as with humanitarian organizations helping to meet food-related global challenges. This is a cross-disciplinary program exploring the current practices of sustainable food production and consumption. Focus is given to investigating how we affect the Earth’s resources with our food choices. Experiential learning at a small-scale farm in the peri-urban area of Rome is an integral part of the program. |

Academic Requirements: - Applicants for graduate study must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, having earned a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or equivalent.
- BA/BSc in the Sciences, Humanities or Social Sciences
- We welcome applications from students who do not have the relevant undergraduate degree (see below), provided they can demonstrate both sufficient knowledge on the topic and motivation to study. Students who meet these criteria may be admitted to the program with the approval of the Program Director.
- Students who do not have the required level of knowledge for their program of application will be asked to take certain key undergraduate level courses before they can begin the graduate courses.

Prior Knowledge/Skills: The food-agriculture-environment nexus and other aspects such as the international political and economic dimensions of the policies and regulatory frameworks which also encompass food, and/or the food business industry operations and practices, and/or the social and technical aspects of the digital and other media in food communications
Interview: Before admittance to the M.A. program, all students will be interviewed. The purpose of the interview is to enable the Director and Committee of the relevant program to assess the students’ language abilities and their knowledge of the subject. Students are expected to demonstrate their commitment and capacity to study at the graduate level. |
