Description:

3D animation is no longer just for entertainment. Today's 3D specialists are finding work in sectors across the economy: automotive, architecture, medicine, urban planning, security and more. By blending traditional artistic principles with cutting-edge techniques, you can develop your love of 3D modelling and animation into a flexible and innovative career filled with variety and opportunity.  Study fundamentals of computer animation, design and technology, and then sharpen your skills through hands-on projects. By your third year of the program, you'll be ready to take specialized courses in such areas as animation, advanced technology, visualization and machine learning. You'll also gain valuable industry insights and real-world experience through a research capstone and 420-hour internship.

    Program eligibility: Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses: 

    • English, Grade 12 (ENG4U)  

    plus 

    • One Visual Arts or Communication Technology (TGJ or TGG) credit (Grade 11 or 12 any level, workplace 'E' level not accepted), or one postsecondary Visual Arts credit course.  
    • Math, Grade 12 (U or M) or Math, Grade 11 (U or M), or Computer Science Grade 11 or 12 (U or M) or Computer Technology Grade 11 or 12 (U or M)*. 
    • Three other Grade 12 subjects (U or M level). 
    • Minimum 65% overall average. 

    *Applicants applying with Grade 11 (U or M) requirement courses must have a total of six Grade 12 subjects (U or M) level, including the required courses listed above.

    or

    • Two semesters of postsecondary education including required courses (or equivalents) from the above with minimum 65% overall average.

    Portfolio

    • Applicants are required to submit a portfolio. The detailed portfolio requirements including due date and submission instructions will be posted in your Sheridan Application Portal. Please note that there is a portfolio assessment fee. 
    • Sample portfolio instructions for reference purposes only are also available.

    Applicant selection

    Eligible applicants are selected based on previous academic achievement (the average of their six highest Grade 12 (U or M) credits, including the required courses listed above, plus the results of their portfolio.

    Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program may be advised individually regarding other related programs.
