The aim of the Doctoral Programmes of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is to promote scholarly research leading to discovery, learning and innovation according to international standards of excellence, in the broader discipline of CEE, as well as in related multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. The research focuses on research areas that serve the interests of Cypriot society, by identifying and providing solutions to issues faced by the Cypriot industry and society. At the same time, all the research laboratories of the Department collaborate actively with top universities worldwide. |

The applicants to the PhD Programme must possess the equivalent of a BSc or MSc degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, or in a related field of science or engineering, from the University of Cyprus or another accredited university in Cyprus or abroad.
The number of places available are announced by the Graduate School with the eligibility criteria for candidates, as well as other required documents that must be attached to the application such as: - Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University.
- Previous University education in a suitable subject (academic background) and grades of relevant degrees.
- Letters of recommendation.
- Personal interview and/or written examination (if provided by the Department’s internal rules).
- Submission of preliminary research proposal for admission to a doctoral course (if provided by the Department’s internal rules).
The Department may also set additional criteria and quality indicators such as: (a) number of students’ publications in scientific journals, (b) students’ participation in seminars, symposia, research programmes, (c) presentations by students at conferences, (d) knowledge of foreign languages, and (e) professional experience, etc. |

Applicants must have a University degree awarded by an accredited institution in the country where it operates, or a degree evaluated as equivalent to a University degree by the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (KY.S.A.T.S). Individuals who will be awarded a University degree or Graduation certificate fulfilling the necessary criteria by the end of the week that precedes registration week, are also eligible to apply. Applications for a Postgraduate Programme should include the following: - Application through the Online Application System of the UCY.
- A recognised University Degree.
- University Transcripts as appropriate.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- A short statement (max. two pages) of research goals and interests.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation.
- English Language Certificates (in case the candidate will study in an English-taught postgraduate programme or in case knowledge of the English language is required).
- Other certificates and verifications that will assist the evaluation committee in the evaluation process of the applications, such as employment certificates etc.
- For Applications to a PhD programme: A preliminary research proposal for a PhD place (if this is stated in the departments regulations).
Minimum Admission Criteria for a Postgraduate Programme are: - A recognised university degree or equivalent qualification in a subject related to the programme.
- Grades in related degrees and other certificates.
- At least two recommendation letters.
