Description:

Humber’s 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production certificate offers an intensive, industry-focused learning experience designed to build both creative and technical expertise. Students gain hands-on skills in modelling, texturing, lighting, visual effects and compositing, all delivered through a “pipeline” approach that mirrors real-world production workflows. This structure ensures graduates are job-ready and prepared to navigate professional environments.

Developed by seasoned CG and VFX artists, the program is tailored for traditional artists or individuals with artistic and technical aptitude looking to elevate or pivot their careers into the exciting world of 3D and visual effects. Led by experienced instructors with extensive industry backgrounds, the curriculum provides invaluable insights into current and emerging trends, ensuring students are equipped to meet today’s evolving demands.

    To be eligible for admission, you must submit the following:

    • Portfolio
    • Applicants must demonstrate their artistic/design interest, strong computer literacy, and solid knowledge of the Windows graphical interface by submitting a portfolio that includes 3-4 pieces of original creative work. This could include graphic designs, films, illustrations, sketches, and/or anything in the spectrum of 3D work. Demonstrating knowledge of either digital design software or a 3D computer animation program would be an asset. 
    • Your portfolio submission should include the following: 3-4 pieces of your best creative work (digital or pictures of any traditional work)  
    • A link to a portfolio website (if available) 
    • For one piece of work, applicants are required to include a description, in 100 to 150 words, outlining the process, software used and the reasons behind creative choices.

    Test Scores:
    • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based)
