Description:

Health sciences at South Dakota Mines is a flexible degree that taps into the interdisciplinary nature of health care and medical research, preparing students for a wide variety of health-related careers. This major requires core courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and math, but allows for multidisciplinary electives and support courses from areas such as psychology, sociology, and humanities.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    First-time Freshmen must:

    • Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 at the secondary (high school).
    • Be proficient in English.
    • Provide an acceptable SAT or ACT score or an Accuplacer Math score. 
    • Math sub-scores should be a minimum of 520 on the SAT or 20 on the ACT.
    • Only applicants with an SAT or ACT score are eligible for merit-based scholarships.
