The Recreation Industries and Therapeutic Recreation: Recreation Professional Studies program at Springfield College prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed as recreation professionals in a variety of community, wellness, and nonprofit settings. Originally established in 1946, graduates from our program have gone on to be leaders in nonprofit organizations like the YMCA, hospitals and nursing home settings, camps and outdoor recreation businesses, and community recreation agencies. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
- 4 of Grade12 English or Grade12 Mathematics or Grade12 Social Science or Grade12 International Languages or Grade12 History
Your course distribution must include the following coursework for admission:
- Four years of English
- Three years of math (at least through Algebra 2)
- Two years of history or social science
- If your intended major requires extensive science preparation, you should take at least one additional laboratory science course
- Two consecutive years of foreign language
Springfield College also looks for students who participate in a diverse set of cocurricular activities in high school, particularly in areas related to your intended field of study. Such activities might include athletic teams, cultural groups, or community service agencies. |
