| This internship is a one-year graduate training program that will provide additional exposure and training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The program uses the facilities of the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and the IWK Health Centre, both located in Halifax. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
To be eligible to apply for the internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery, applicants should meet the following starting requirements:
- A doctor of dental surgery (DDS) or doctor of dental medicine (DMD) degree.
- A National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) certificate.
- A student dental license for the province of Nova Scotia. This will probably be obtained during the first month of the internship. Observation privileges will be granted until the license is obtained.
- Malpractice insurance with CDSPI.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification. This can be organized to take place during the first month of the internship.
- Acceptance into all programs within the Faculty of Dentistry and the School of Dental Hygiene is normally conditional upon receipt of a completed immunization/CPR record.
