Description:

School Direct is a school-led route offering you a way to qualify as a teacher (QTS) while based mainly in a school.

The School Direct Training programme is available to high-quality graduates and our partner schools offer places on both the tuition fee route and the salaried route. The salaried route means you will be able to earn a salary while you train, and aims to attract career changers and high quality candidates in hard to fill subjects.

Prerequisites:

Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
Application Notes : You must have competence in English language to study with us. The most commonly accepted evidence of English language ability is IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all components). We also normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification.
Additional Admission Requirements:
A bachelor degree, usually 2.1 or 1st, relevant to the subject or phase (primary, secondary etc.) you want to teach.

GCSE grade C / grade 4, or equivalent, in mathematics and English is required. All primary applicants must also hold grade C, or equivalent in a science subject.

We also accept equivalency tests by Equivalency Testing, A Star Teachers or other appropriately accredited providers if the testing arrangements have been approved by the ITT team at Middlesex. We cannot accept functional skills or key skills.

For both routes you will need to attend an interview, which should take place within the school you will be training to teach.

At the interview stage, your suitability for teaching will be judged, including your subject knowledge for teaching and potential to demonstrate proficiency with fundamental English and mathematics. If any shortfall is identified, you may be required to complete some additional work before starting the programme. During the programme, your subject knowledge and fundamental English and mathematics will be developed and assessed to ensure you reach the required level.
