If you have a passion for non-fiction and are interested in developing your writing in a supportive and engaging multimedia environment, this online course is ideal.

Creative Non-Fiction has emerged as a leading area of contemporary publishing, journalism, and general media interest. Throughout this MA course, you’ll focus on key genres such as memoir, autobiography, nature and travel writing across a range of media, enabling you to develop your own writing in response to key and cutting-edge examples from the field. Our relationship with Hachette UK, one of the world’s leading publishers of nonfiction, opens up a range of opportunities for professional engagement for our students.

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7.0]
Application Notes : Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of a minimum 7 score in IELTS or equivalent. Students must have a score of 7 in each element of the test.

MA Writing Creative Non-Fiction welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about creative non-fiction, and are interested in developing their craft. We would normally expect applicants to hold a 2:1 or equivalent, but we also celebrate inclusivity and diversity, and welcome applicants without the normal qualifications who can provide evidence of experiential learning to an appropriate standard and a demonstrable talent and commitment to writing in this genre.


In addition to a personal statement, all applicants should submit with their application a 2000-word sample of their original prose non-fiction.
