Description:

This course provides the opportunity for those who have studied an undergraduate degree to undertake a two-year full-time Master's course and upon successful completion receive eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The course helps you to develop the skills required, in order to become a confident, competent, caring and compassionate child nurse in a rapidly changing health and social care environment. This includes developing the vital skills required to care for children, young people and their families whatever their circumstances, including those with acute illness, long-term conditions or those who need help to maintain their health.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
For Canadian residents: A Bachelor degree (Honours) / Baccalaureat de type Honours is required. A minimum of 2.3 on a 4 Point GPA or a 5.2 on a 9 Point GPA is required for most masters courses. A small number of our masters courses require 3.2 on a 4 point GPA or 7.2 on a 9 point GPA.
    Additional Admission Requirements:
    • Work Experience
Applicants are required to successfully demonstrate that they have completed 550 hours of theory through studying/reading and a minimum of 325 hours of practice before they start the course using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) (Nursing and Midwifery Council [NMC] requirement). Students may choose to have either 325 or 700 hours of practice verified in the Pre-Entry Portfolio. A broad range of experience can be used for this including observations and reading. Your experience and learning may have occurred outside a typical ‘practice’ area but is still applicable, for example you may have worked in a public facing professional role in which you will have demonstrated values relating to nursing. If you are successful at interview support will be provided on how to complete this document face-to-face, by phone or online.
