Description:

Applicants hoping to be accepted into the MRM Thesis stream need to apply to the program under the same criteria and requirement as the Project and Planning Stream applicants with the same deadlines and intake dates. Students in the thesis stream complete seven courses and a Masters thesis. Both the Project and Thesis MRM streams require high-quality research and writing, but the thesis stream is more research intensive, producing a final thesis document which is larger in scope than a project and makes a distinct original contribution to the academic knowledge base in their field.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Applicants are normally required to hold an undergraduate degree in a related field with a minimum of 3.0 GPA on SFU’s 4.33 scale (B average or 70%). Applications from students with other degrees or with equivalent professional training and experience will also be considered.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based)
Application Notes : Applicants whose native language is not English and whose education has been conducted in a language other than English are required to submit English Language test scores (TOEFL or IELTS). SFU code: 0999; REM code: 46.

If your native language is not English you must provide proof of English language competency. We accept: TOEFL 580 (paper based) and TWE 5, TOEFL 93 (internet based - minimum of 20 in each module), IELTS overall band score of 7.0 of the academic (NOT general) test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section. The university and department code for the TOEFL is 0999 (SFU) and 46 (REM). International applicants whose primary language is not English will not be required to complete an English-language test if they have completed a degree at an institution where the language of instruction and examination was in English in a country where English is the primary language. It should be noted that in order to maintain a high academic standard, very few waivers are granted. Therefore, it is recommended that those applicants whose primary language is not English submit an English language proficiency test with their application.
