Description:

This introductory trades program is a multi-disciplinary program that aims to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence required to enter into an Apprenticeship program as a Housing Maintainer, Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber or Oil Heat Systems Techncian or to pursue other Nunavut Arctic College Programs. Learners will train with a variety of tools, techniques, and materials in well-equipped shops. Trades-related Math, Science and Communications form a significant part of the curriculum. The program’s academic and technical training ensures learners are able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical application. Students who successfully complete the Building Skilled Trades Worker Diploma can move into Apprentice Level 2 of their chosen trade and bypass the Trades Entrance Exam
