Data is everywhere and affects every aspect of our lives and our society — from fitness trackers to online shopping to social media. Data is used to understand human behaviour, and to inform policy, journalism and strategy.

This course is for you if you: are a graduate in the social sciences, business or the humanities; have an interest in data and data-driven methods; and plan a career in the field of data science.

Understanding how and why data is used, and the societal and ethical implications of doing so, are at the heart of this MSc. On the course, you'll explore modern information and communication technologies; the python programming language; probability theory, statistics, linear algebra and calculus; machine learning techniques; and ethics and interpretability.

Prerequisites:

    Bachelors degree with a minimum CGPA 3.0/4.0 (grade B).


    Subject-specific requirements:


    Your qualification should be in Psychology, Economics, Business, or another Social Science subject with a good level of numeracy. You may also be considered for the course if you have an undergraduate degree in a different subject area and can demonstrate that you have ability with data and a reasonable level of Maths (this can be demonstrated in your school leaving qualifications).
