Description:

In this nonprofit management certificate program, you’ll develop general leadership abilities and knowledge needed to oversee a nonprofit organization. Specific areas of focus include creative problem-solving, strategic planning, fundraising, volunteer management and more. You’ll also learn the history and philosophy of nonprofits while taking a deeper dive into the concepts of theory, research and practice used in modern nonprofit management.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they’ve earned a bachelor's or master's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution.
    Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in the last 60 hours of their bachelor's program. Alternatively, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in an applicable master’s degree program.




    All applicants must submit:
  • Graduate admission application and application fee.
  • Official transcripts.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of educational and career goals.
  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Additional Admission Requirements:
    • This certificate is designed for applicants with an exploratory interest in studying the nonprofit sector. Strong applications are those with evidence of one to three years of management or leadership experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. Evidence provided can include, but is not limited to, leading a service or program as a volunteer or paid staff member, serving on a board of directors or volunteering in direct services. Applicants meeting such criteria are encouraged to apply.
    • The statement of educational and career goals should be written in sufficient detail to indicate compatibility with the educational objectives and capabilities of the school.
    • Reference letters should be from a combination of academic and professional references. References from friends and family members are not accepted.
    • Students currently pursuing the nonprofit leadership and management certificate who are interested in applying for the master's program must apply to the degree program before the completion of nine credit hours in their certificate program.
    • An applicant whose native language is not English (regardless of current residency) must provide proof of English proficiency.
