Description:

This food safety master’s program online concentration covers food protection concerns and regulations throughout the food supply chain from distribution to the retail market. Courses examine food safety regulations from local, state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You’ll also gain an understanding of the ethical and legal challenges of food safety and regulation.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in the last 60 hours of their bachelor's program. Alternatively, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in an applicable master's program. Students should complete courses in Introductory Biology (3 credits), and Introductory Chemistry with Lab (4 credits) with minimum grades of “B” or above. In some circumstances, students may be admitted to the program with a requirement to complete the science pre-requisites as additional coursework.




    All applicants must submit:
  • Graduate admission application and application fee.

  • Personal statement (one page limit).
  • Two professional letters of recommendation.
  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Additional Admission Requirements:
      An appropriate candidate has an undergraduate degree majoring in natural/physical sciences, such as biological sciences, chemistry, nutrition science, food science, physics or geology.




      An applicant whose native language is not English (regardless of current residency) must provide proof of English proficiency.




      The personal statement must discuss why the applicant wants to enroll in the program and what they expect to achieve with a master’s degree from the point of view of regulatory science, and food safety. Candidates should identify how both areas will advance their academic and professional goals.




      An interview will be scheduled with the applicant shortly after a completed application is received.
