Liberty’s Master of Arts in History can help prepare you for history-related vocations through the study of historical facts, scholarly arguments, military campaigns, and more. In addition to studying historical events, you will also learn leadership lessons from some of the most important historical figures of the past and present. The need for historians who can provide insight into current events, analyze decisions, and teach others is of vital importance. By pursuing a history degree at Liberty, you are not only diving deep into history – you are preparing for your future. By further developing as a historian, you can become an expert in history and teach others what you know.
Our professors focus on key staples of historical thought so that you are more prepared to impact the world for Christ. Some of the areas you’ll study include historical methodology, historical research and writing, and literature analysis. You will also have the choice to study either American history or European history. Our professors strive for you to have a comprehensive understanding of history so that you can be better equipped for history-related vocations or doctoral study. |

| Additional Admission Requirements: | - Statement of Research Interests
Every application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit the following documents and meet the minimum requirements for admission: admission application; self-certification form for students in the final term of their bachelor’s degree; a regionally or nationally accredited bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA for admission in good standing. A 2.5 to 2.99 GPA may grant admission on caution; and a Statement of Purpose - please submit a 300- to 500-word essay including your goals and an explanation of what you hope to gain from and contribute to the program. Prerequisites (must be taken prior to admission): minimum of 18 undergraduate credit hours in history or related discipline (lower- or upper-level hours). Current Liberty undergraduate students seeking preliminary acceptance into a graduate program must complete a degree completion application through their ASIST account.
