| Designed to encourage an exchange of ideas and influences from non-studio and other academic disciplines reflecting the complex nature of contemporary art and literary practice. The Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree provides students with the theoretical and practical tools involved in obtaining a degree in the Fine Arts. There are three specializations under the M.F.A.: Creative Writing, Visual Arts, and Interdisciplinary Studies. In the specialization of Interdisciplinary Studies, students must choose a primary discipline of Creative Writing, of Visual Arts, or of Performance and also one secondary discipline. |

Four-year Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with:
- minimum average of 76% in third- and fourth-year classes; or
- at least 12 credits in third- and fourth-year classes in the intended field of study with minimum of 80%. |

Admission requires samples of writing, video/film, or performance to be evaluated by the Department of Creative Studies. Applications which pass through the portfolio screening are forwarded for recommendation to the College of Graduate Studies for final approval after all other admission criteria are met. |
