Description:

Covering all stages of the data science value chain, UBC’s Okanagan campus Master of Data Science program prepares graduates to thrive in one of the world’s most in-demand fields. Over 10 months, you’ll learn how to extract and analyze data in all its forms, how to turn data into knowledge, and how to clearly communicate your recommendations to decision-makers.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    At the minimum, hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree from UBC or similar university with a minimum B+ (76% or 3.30 GPA at UBC) average in your 300- and 400-level courses.



    Prerequisite Courses

    At the time of application, you must have proof of completion or enrolment in two of the following prerequisite courses:


    one course in Programming (3 credits):

    Similar to UBC-V: CPSC 103, CPSC 110, APSC 260 / UBC-O: COSC 111, COSC 123, DATA 301

    one course in Probability and/or Statistics (3 credits):

    Similar to UBC-V: STAT 200, STAT 241/251, STAT 302 / UBC-O: STAT 121, STAT 124, STAT 230


    AND



    one course in Calculus (3-credit) OR Linear Algebra (3-credit)

    Calculus: Similar to UBC-V: MATH 100 / UBC-O: MATH 100

    Linear Algebra: Similar to UBC-V: MATH 221 / UBC-O: MATH 221

    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration)
