Description:

Earthed explores visual art practices that shed light on planetary processes and concerns. Such artistic practices may operate on the margins of the typical systems of art production and exchange. These practices may employ art as a conduit to engage with environmental issues including regenerative living, habitat loss and degradation, climate breakdown, biodiversity, adaptation, and more.

This program investigates the confluence of ethics and aesthetics in search of alternative structures to raise cultural and political awareness of urgent environmental issues. Led by artists Ackroyd & Harvey, whose work intersects art, activism, architecture, biology, ecology and history, this residency will also include engagements with local scientists, biologist, and ecologists.

Prerequisites:

Additional Admission Requirements:
  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
  • Portfolio
Participants are selected by impartial adjudicators on the basis of their submitted material. In addition to artistic merit, consideration will be given to the likelihood that the artist's work will benefit from the program.

Applicants will be notified of their status as soon as adjudication is complete, approximately eight to 10 weeks following the application deadline.
