Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy offers a program leading to the Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy (MScPT). The course-based MScPT program is designed to provide students with the clinical and evaluative skills necessary for the practice of physical therapy. This course-based master's degree is for students who hold undergraduate degrees in a variety of fields.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree or its academic equivalent in any field of study from an accredited post-secondary institution is required. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on the University of Alberta 4-point grading system or an equivalent standing from another recognized institution is required. However, a GPA of >3.6 for Alberta applicants and >3.8 for out of province applicants on the most recent sixty credits of study is recommended for a competitive application.
    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 237] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
    Application Notes : Candidates will be invited to participate in a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). The MMI is a series of short, multi-station interviews based on predefined scenarios designed to evaluate the interviewee's critical thinking ability, ethical decision making ability, communication skills and the non-cognitive/humanistic skills required for success in a clinical environment. The interview evaluation constitutes a significant component of the overall admissions assessment.
