Starting in 2026, prospective students will have the chance to live on campus in an affordable, accessible and comfortable space. Capilano University's Student Housing Project includes 362 new living spaces in a six-storey building.
As the first on-campus housing offered at CapU's North Vancouver Campus, our housing complex will provide spaces at affordable, below-market rates with a location that is walking distance to class.
New students will have the opportunity for new learning and living experiences in residence, through the building of a vibrant community on campus.
New dining hall and amenities
Of the 362 living spaces, 52 are single units, 12 of which are reserved for students with accessibility needs. The remaining 153 are double-occupancy rooms, with the residence life facilitator living in a two-bedroom suite.
Amenities include a 250-seat contemporary dining hall and café that provide healthy meal options for students, staff, and faculty, as well as secure bicycle storage, car parking, and a multipurpose hall.
Additionally, you'll have access to resident services, including resident support offices and an Indigenous-focused reflection space. There will also be employment opportunities for students who are interested in working in the facility part-time.
A sustainability-first design mindset
The building itself was designed with sustainability in mind. Some of those features include low-flow fixtures and drought-resistant plants to encourage less water consumption, recessed openable windows and a sun-shielding façade negating the need for mechanical cooling, and green roofs that retain rainwater and enhance insulation.
One unique element of the building is the exposed wood beams in the dining pavilion. These beams will create an outdoor eating and gathering space for students while also sheltering people from rain when they enter.
The complex will start taking its first students in the spring of 2026. We're excited to welcome you to the building! Curious about Capilano University? Reach out to a recruitment advisor to help you explore your future.
