Canada's Best Student Experience

If you’re attending university in September, you may have already registered in your courses, but you should also review all the material you’ve been sent from your Admissions/Registrar’s, Housing, and Financial Aid Offices. You may also want to familiarize yourself with support services that are designed to help you with the transition from high school to university.

For incoming first-year students at Western, there are many resources designed to help you succeed and engage fully with your new environment. Informative workshops cover a wide range of topics, including IT Services, Indigenous Services, Libraries, Book Store and Computer Store, Services for Students with Disabilities, the Effective Writing Program, and Learning Skills. Once on campus in September, Orientation Week and Clubs Week expose new students to the myriad academic, social, cultural and athletic opportunities available, as hundreds of Sophs provide a friendly and welcoming introduction to the next phase of your life. Check out all of the opportunities to enhance your student experience and build your resume through participating in co-curricular activities such as community engaged learning, volunteering, co-ops, international exchanges, or work/study.

The Transition, Leadership, and Enrichment team is a diverse team that works with more than 10,000 new and continuing students annually to get connected at Western. The team is supported by hundreds of student leaders and dedicated volunteers, and coordinates the following programs: Society of Off Campus Students, Leadership Education Program, Summer Academic Orientation, LAMP – Peer Mentor Program, Scholar’s Electives, Western Scholars, WISE, SAGE Society for Mature Students, School Within a University, Out of Province Student Association and more!
