Don’t forget to apply for bursaries and scholarships

It is a simple statement, but it is true; don’t forget to apply for scholarships and bursaries.

There are many scholarships and bursaries available to students studying in Canada. Many of the colleges and universities have these award opportunities available.

The key is to share information. The more you can share about yourself, the better your chances. Selection Committees reviewing your application don’t know you or speak with others about you, so whatever information you include can make the difference.

For instance what struggles have you overcome to achieve your educational goals? Any volunteer work you have done?

Key things to consider:
Spell Check; it is always good practice to spell check and maybe have someone review it. Keep things in point form when listing accomplishments.

Personalize it. Make sure you take the time to acknowledge why you are applying and what your future academic or career goals are. This is often listed in bursary criteria.

Check each box, and fill out all key information. Be sure to complete all of the requested financial information and questions. Take a few minutes to check your math. Proper information is required to be on file for all bursary applications. Read the application thoroughly and make sure you are paying attention to each question.

If you want to know more information about scholarships and bursaries, talk to the Awards officer or the International office liaison about how to apply.

Apply early; most schools have an application deadline.
