Finding meaningful employment and learning opportunities can be challenging for people with learning, social, or mental health challenges.
The Discover Employability and Education and Employment Access certificate programs at Capilano University offer the support to help you train for the career you want.
Both these programs can help students transition out of high school, learn valuable hands-on career skills and work experience, build connections, realize their interests and advocate for their needs.
The Discover Employability Certificate is an eight-month program taught in a class of 12 that will help you build the skill set employers seek.
In the program, you'll develop your workplace knowledge with specialized training in job preparation, health and safety, and managing your finances.
Supported by CapU instructors, you'll also gain confidence as you build your social skills, computer skills, and self-advocacy skills.
You'll complete the program by participating in three work experience placements arranged by your instructors at local businesses to help you get on-the-job training before graduation.

The Education and Employment Access Certificate is an eight-month program designed to help students with mental, social, learning, or physical differences transition from high school into meaningful careers or prepare for more education.
Over eight months, you'll build up your skill set with fundamental training in student success skills, job search strategies, resumé writing, conducting mock job interviews and improving practical communication.
Through assessment, classwork, and one-on-one support, you'll develop a plan and set your future goals, whether you're interested in pursuing further education or entering the workforce.
Before you graduate, you'll test out your new skills in a six-week practicum in the Spring term, gaining hands-on experience in an area of your choosing.
