A New Way to Pursue a Career in Technology

Dreaming about pursuing a career in technology? It can be difficult to decide which program is best suited for your academic and professional goals. Tech is a constantly evolving industry which impacts the world and all our daily lives. The good news is that job openings in this field far outnumber job seekers.

Earn and learn at the same time

By getting paid for full-time work while studying, students who may not have considered pursuing university study due to financial barriers can work towards a degree without sacrificing other areas of their lives.

In response to Canada's need for technology professionals and students' need for accessible tech education, the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University has launched a brand-new fully work-integrated program in Digital Technologies. It's the first-of-its-kind in Canada (based on successful models from the UK and New Zealand), collaboratively co-designed with leading public and private organizations and Lassonde.

Get career support through your program

The workplace can be daunting, but with the Digital Technologies program at York, you'll have both a personal workplace coach and an academic coach, as well as a company mentor who will support you and help develop your skills in the workplace. Having these advisors by your side will help you gain confidence as you put what you've learned directly into practice.

Leverage your creative hobbies

If you're just finishing high school and have limited job and/or computer experience, you might wonder how you can find a job. That's okay! If you're a creative type who enjoys TikTok challenges, DIY projects, and life hacks, your creative hobbies may show an aptitude for STEM that could take you far in the field.

By becoming a "creator" at Lassonde, you'll join a caring community creating positive change from the ground up, and turning seemingly abstract ideas into realities that contribute to a more just, sustainable world.
