USask's Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships

The University of Saskatchewan is one of Canada's top research universities, offering over 200 academic programs to students at its Saskatoon campus. To support and encourage the high-achieving students, USask offers plenty of scholarship opportunities.

The highest value awards program is the Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships: renewable awards based on academics, leadership, and engagement with your community. Several of the awards are intended for Indigenous students: these are known as the Circle of Honour Awards. Whether you're Indigenous or not, check out the Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships available to students at the University of Saskatchewan.

To apply for a Best and Brightest scholarship, sign into PAWS and complete the application form before December 1. Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships include:

George and Marsha Ivany President's First & Best Scholarships

Value of award: $40,000 over four years

Number of awards: 5

Application deadline: December 1

To qualify for one of five $40,000 scholarships, you must be:

  • Graduating from a Canadian high school
  • Heading directly into university — no gap years, please!
  • Have a minimum high school average of 95%

The scholarship is renewable — meaning you'll continue to receive funds throughout your undergrad degree — provided you maintain an average of at least 80%.

Contenders for one of these awards will be actively involved in school or community life, demonstrating leadership skills and potential. One of the five scholarships is a Circle of Honour award, meaning it's designated for an Indigenous student.

To qualify, you must be graduating or have graduated from a Canadian high school. Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, so the better your grades, the more likely you are to be selected.

Edwards Undergraduate Scholarships

Value of award: $24,000 over four years

Number of awards: 8

Application deadline: December 1

The Edwards Undergraduate Scholarships are a little more restrictive than some others on this list. To qualify for an Edwards scholarship, you must be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at USask's Edwards School of Business.

The award is renewable, meaning you'll continue to receive funds in second year and beyond, so long as you maintain a decent course load and an 80% average. Selections are based on academic achievement, so getting good grades in high school is a definite advantage!

Value of award: $12,000 over four years

Number of awards: 5

Application deadline: December 1

Like the Edwards scholarships, these awards, also known as the Torvald and Margaret Tollefson Renewable Entrance Scholarships, are meant for students in a particular field: in this case, it's a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
