5 Questions to Ask When Applying to University

Where you go for higher learning matters. Universities and colleges vie for your attention, but which one is best suited for you? Here are five questions to consider when you're thinking of where to apply.

1. What's the calibre of the faculty?

Do they know their stuff? Have they been teaching for a long time or do they have significant experience? Browse faculty profiles in advance to read about the individuals who will be teaching you. They may have testimonials or videos to help you get a sense of their teaching style.

2. What's the community like?

Will I be exposed to a variety of perspectives and people of different backgrounds, similar to what I may experience in the workforce? Tyndale University is located in Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Challenge yourself to think differently as you get to know your peers and professors.

3. What's my general feel when I visit the campus or speak with admissions counsellors?

Can I picture myself here? Most universities offer in-person and virtual campus tours. It's also a great time to ask any questions you may have.

4. Can I afford this?

Thanks to bursaries, student employment, government aid, and scholarships, there are many options to help pay tuition fees. Calculate costs at the university you're interested in (some have already done the work for you!). You'll be amazed at how much you can save!

5. Do staff and faculty truly care about students?

Is there support for mental health initiatives and overall student wellness? Full-time Tyndale students are eligible to receive up to eight therapy sessions with a qualified Wellness Practitioner free of charge each year.

Your university years can be some of the best years of your life. Find the best fit for you and apply with confidence.
