At Laurentian University, we understand that you probably have a lot of questions about what to expect in your final year of high school. We're here to guide you every step of the way!

When thinking about post secondary options, there are many things to consider. We've found it helpful to use the acronym P.L.A.C.E.S. to start thinking about what's ahead.

Program

What schools offer the program(s) that you want to study? Remember that types of post secondary credentials include degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Subject areas are vast, and when considering programs of study, you'll want to start thinking about your future career. At Laurentian, our flexible degree structure means that you can customize your major and minor studies to create a "modular degree" that's unique to your strengths and interests. Location

Where do you want to study? Does location influence your decision? Laurentian is located on 765 acres in the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek in beautiful Sudbury, Ontario. You can explore our campus virtually in stunning 360-degree photos. Know that we also intend to resume in-person campus tours this Fall! We love our campus, and know you will too!

Admissions requirements

Do you have the required courses and academic average to be considered for admissions to your program(s) of choice? Be sure to do your research well in advance. Your guidance counselor will be an excellent resource for you, but remember that our friendly Liaison Services team is also here to help you. You can connect with us either by e-mail or telephone: info@laurentian.ca or 1-800-263-4188.

Costs

What is the average cost of a year of study? When thinking about costs associated with post secondary education, you'll want to plan your budget keeping in mind not only tuition, but also the cost of living (rent, residence, meal plan or groceries). Scholarships (based on grades) and bursaries (based on financial need) are excellent sources of income support. Familiarize yourself with Laurentian's full list of student awards.

Extra-curriculars

What extracurricular activities can you participate in? Clubs, intramural sports, Varsity athletics and campus and community events are all at your fingertips as a post secondary student! It's important to find a balance between your studies and non-scholastic activities. Remember that being a student is rewarding in many different ways, and that while in post sec, you'll be able to expand your interests and passions.
