After months of closures and virtual tours, get a feel for the Sudbury campus of Laurentian University.

If you're craving a true third dimension in your campus tours, Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, has got you covered. They're among the first post-secondary schools in Canada to welcome prospective students and parents back to tour the campus and see what life at Laurentian is all about.

Precautions for COVID-19

Laurentian takes COVID-19 seriously, and precautions are in place keep you and your family safe on campus. Guests will be required to sanitize their hands on arrival, and everyone involved, including your tour guides, must observe safe physical distancing of at least 2 meters. To reduce the amount of surface contact, your tour guides will open and hold doors for you — talk about a luxurious visit!

If you're able, you'll need to wear a mask or face covering at all times during your tour. You'll also have to show Trent staff that you successfully completed a COVID-19 screening questionnaire. It's a short public health questionnaire you'll get ahead of time by email.

Taking a real-life campus tour

It might seem strange to be in public with a group of strangers after all this time, but taking in a campus first-hand is the best way to experience what your student life could be like.

Unfortunately, with COVID, the days of open house drop-ins are gone. You'll need to book your tour at least a week in advance. When you arrive, you'll take part in a 90 minute walking tour, some of which is outdoors — so be sure you dress for warmth and wear some comfy shoes!

On the plus side, your tour group will be small. Each tour is limited to a single family, up to a maximum of five visitors. If you're the type to bring your parents, aunts and uncles, neighbours and pets, you'll have a tough decision to make!

You'll see almost everything Laurentian University has to offer on campus. A few select buildings, including recreation facilities and the J.N. Desmarais Library, will remain closed. You can learn more about the many buildings and facilities at Laurentian University.

If you have accessibility needs, want to meet a particular department, or perhaps tour a residence building, get in touch with Laurentian staff, and they'll do their best to help.

The return of in-person campus tours is an exciting sign for students everywhere. Schools like Laurentian University are getting a handle on the pandemic, and taking all necessary precautions to protect you. So if you're curious what university life could be like, book a campus tour at Laurentian University this fall!
