Belfast is the well-known capital of Northern Ireland: as a multi-cultural city, it's a popular attraction to many residents and visitors of Northern Ireland. There are so many fun and exciting places to visit and things to do in Belfast to suit all types of personalities and interests.

We have put together our top picks, which are only a small number of entertaining ways to spend your spare time in Belfast! If you've been here before, you won't be a stranger to some of the amazing excursions that Belfast has to offer.

The Cathedral Quarter

Belfast is known for its nightlife and diverse range of establishments to wine and dine while you're in the city. The Cathedral Quarter is the perfect place to start as it has everything you will need in the one place and has become the core for the city's finest bars, restaurants and our all-time favourite traditional Irish music!

The Cathedral Quarter caters to many cultures and is home to a number of events throughout the year, such as food and seasonal festivals in Custom House Square. Plus there's the amazing street art that makes this area so iconic and unique! The Cathedral Quarter is also home to Ulster University's Belfast campus.

Titanic Quarter

At the heart of the waterfront in Belfast, the Titanic Quarter is a must-see when visiting the area. Home to the world-famous Harland and Wolff shipyard and the docks where the Titanic ship set off on its only journey, you can discover the Titanic Experience and see where it all began.

Set aside some time when exploring this area, there are many exciting events and attractions, not to mention places to wine, dine and enjoy afternoon tea during your time there.

SSE Arena: home to the famous Belfast Giants!

The SSE Arena in Belfast is also located within the Titanic Quarter, a sports and entertainment complex which is the prime venue many indoor comedy events, music concerts and of course the home stadium for the Belfast Giants ice hockey team.

Canadian native Adam Keefe is one of the Giants' most popular team members; Adam played as a right forward for the Giants for 6 seasons and after captaining the team, he is now Head Coach.

Famous music artists from across the globe have also performed at the SSE Arena, such as Shania Twain, Bryan Adams, Westlife, and many more. The venue has a number of refreshment hubs to allow event goers to have the best experience possible!

Donegall Square

Here you'll find several ways to spend your time in the heart of the city centre, located within or nearby Donegall Square, including Belfast City Hall and Victoria Square shopping centre. If you would like to see a 360° view of the entire city, then you need to stop by at the Victoria Square dome, rising high above the city's skyline.

The view is best at night, when you can see Belfast lit up as far as the eye can see. Still, you can experience it for free, any time of the day.

If you fancy picking up some new style, Victoria Square and nearby shopping centre Castle Court, as well as the many stores along the streets, feature hundreds of top brands to meet your wardrobe needs.
