Bangor University Pushes Back Against the Coronavirus Pandemic

From 3D printing visors to hospital beds in the Sports Centre, Bangor University is helping fight COVID-19.

We know that this is a very worrying time for everybody, and students are understandably concerned about what will happen to their place at the universities they may have applied to for this coming September. At the moment our September start date at Bangor University currently remains unchanged, although we are constantly monitoring the situation and following all guidelines.

How Bangor University is contributing to the fight against the coronavirus

Bangor University is currently doing several different things to help the Health Service and the local community respond to the current coronavirus crisis, including:

• Converting our Sports Centre into a temporary hospital housing around 250 beds.
• Using our Halls of Residence as accommodation for Health Service staff.
• Researching the extent of COVID-19 transmission into waste treatment facilities.
• Making available specialist laboratory equipment to analyse samples if required.
• Providing up-skilling training in critical care for NHS staff.
• Working with partners across North Wales to produce visors for health service staff using 3D printing methods.
• Collecting suitable PPE for our National Health Service (NHS).
