Studying at university is an exciting experience, and exploring your campus can be just as fun. So many students have learned little tips and tricks around campus while navigating their lives at university. Here are a few things to check out on campus so you get the full Ridgeback experience.
Join an intramural team
This is a fun way to make friends while getting plenty of exercise! Come out every week and play your favourite sport, meet new people and get active. Find the list of available sports through the
Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Join an extramural team
Extramural sports are a bit more competitive in nature, but aren't as competitive as varsity sports. You will need to try out for the teams and you will compete against students from other universities.
Sports range from hockey and flag football, to badminton and basketball.
Extramural sports have an additional cost, but it's totally worth it for the new, fun experiences you'll have — and the friends you'll doubtless make along the way.
Ice skating
Our Campus Ice Centre has student skating for free, from noon to 2 p.m. every weekday.
Don't have any skates? No problem! When you present your campus ID card, you can rent a pair of skates for free.
Think of how much money you'll save, and how much fun you're going to have between classes.
Campus jobs
Did you know you can apply for jobs on campus and gain actual, real-world experience that looks amazing on a resumé and guarantees you ten hours a week?
Our Student Awards and Financial Aid office offers on-campus employment for students. You can work in a variety of jobs, ranging from shelving books in the Campus Library, to proofreading and writing in the Communications and Marketing department. A job on campus will help alleviate some of the stress of working while going to school at the same time.
