Whether you're finishing up high school, transferring from one institution to another, or merely looking into exploring different undergraduate options for yourself, there's a lot to consider when you're making the leap to university life.

You'll quickly realize that university is far less structured than any of the other educational institutions you've attended up to this point in time, which can understandably be daunting to some. At Brock, we have a great selection of summer orientation programs to help you make a seamless transition to life at university.

Smart Start is our flagship orientation program, and a great way to spend a day on campus from July through August. During a day of your choosing, you'll have the opportunity to get your ID card, register for your courses, have your schedule reviewed by an academic adviser, learn more about student supports and services, and tour our beautiful campus.

If you're looking to expand upon your summer orientation experience, you can also sign up for LEAP. You'll get a chance to be a part of skill-building workshops, explore downtown St. Catharines, and assist a local community partner. If you're a fan of the great outdoors, then BaseCamp is a fitting opportunity to go on a canoeing, backpacking, or local adventure and connect with current and past Brock students. You can learn more about and register for any of these programs on our Summer Orientation Programs page.

It's also important to make sure that once you've settled into life on campus, you begin to round out your experience by finding ways to get involved, and to find the right supports should you need them.

Our Student Life and Community Experience office will help you find ways to get involved both on campus and in the community, which will help you build skills that will further improve your university experience. The switch to university life can be overwhelming at times, but it's important to know that there's great supports in place like our Student Wellness and Accessibility Services office to help you with any challenges that you may face. Whether it be an issue related to academics or a challenge in your personal life, it's important to know that there's always help available to you.

The transition to university life isn't always an easy or simple one, but take comfort in knowing that we're here to help guide you along the way.
