Not only is Northern Ireland classified as the most affordable region in the UK to live, study and work (Mercer, 2016), the people are also ranked as the ‘happiest’ (ONS, 2017) and it’s been crowned ‘Best Region to Visit in 2018’ by Lonely Planet (2017).

You’ll experience an adventure like no other — breathtaking landscapes, unmissable music, fabulous food and an electric social scene. There’s something for everyone.

Here’s the highlights you must see in Belfast:

  1. 1. Explore Game of Thrones
  2. Northern Ireland is the Home of Thrones. Our rugged coastlines, historic castles and stunning scenery are the perfect setting for this epic story. Get the full experience and explore the filming locations with a Game of Thrones tour.

  3. 2. Uncover the myths and legends surrounding The Titanic
  4. Titanic Belfast is the largest museum in the world dedicated to the infamous ocean liner. Situated on the Harland and Wolff shipyard where the doomed vessel was built, the museum consists of nine interactive spaces.

  5. 3. Take a “paranormal” tour of the Crumlin Road Gaol:
  6. Crumlin Road Gaol first opened its doors to Belfast’s mad, bad and dangerous in 1846 and served as a working prison until 1996. Daytime, evening, Victorian and even “paranormal” tours now take place at the gaol. Our international students studying Criminology and Criminal Justice found this trip particularly interesting!

  7. 4. Eat, drink and dance in the Cathedral Quarter:
  8. Belfast is comprised of several “quarters” of which the Cathedral Quarter is probably the liveliest. It’s packed full of bars and quality eating spots.

  9. 5. Treat your taste buds and expand your culinary horizons:
  10. One of the greatest adventures of studying abroad is exploring new food and flavours, and there is nowhere better to treat your taste buds than St George's Market, one of the best markets in the UK and Ireland. The market is open every weekend and hosts a range of events throughout the year.

  11. 6. Catch the coolest game in town with the Belfast Giants!
  12. Visit Northern Ireland’s professional ice-hockey team ‘Belfast Giants’ at their home stadium, SSE Arena. As of the 2018/2019 season, the Giants were crowned Elite League Champions and Challenge Cup winners.

International students love our location because it’s so convenient to visit the rest of the UK & Europe:

  • 2 airports in Belfast, & Dublin airport is only 90 minutes away
  • Direct flights from Belfast to over 180 destinations in 42 countries
  • 1 hour from London, 35 flights per day
