Joining the BVC community goes beyond studying and receiving top-quality and work-ready education. Out of the classroom, students are invited to get involved in building our campus community. Opportunities range from volunteering and collaborating for college events or enhancing public speaking and leadership skills by attending workshops, to participating in the diversity of cultural celebrations on-campus and around Calgary throughout the year.

There are many departments at Bow Valley College dedicated to promoting a vibrant campus life. The International Education Department plans and organizes special events to support international students as they adjust to their new life in Calgary. Visits to fun, historical, cultural, and iconic places, like HeritagePark and the Calgary Stampede are among the favourite experiences for our international population. Additionally, our social activities, like roller-skating at the city’s most popular spot or ice-skating in the Olympic Oval integrate our learners with the local community.

Students can access a group formed by international students for international students through the Student’s Association (SABVC) . The International Students Club allows students to promote interaction and support among international learners, while further enhancing student life on campus and representing their community.

Learner Success Services provides on-campus growth opportunities for students, including aLeadership Development series. Similarly, the Intercultural Centre hosts events where students can share aspects of their culture or teach their talent. Students gain valuable professional experience and learn to conquer their fear of public speaking, all while promoting cultural diversity. Both offices also provide additional opportunities for students to volunteer.
