Sometimes we say our classrooms are 40,000 km wide. Why? Because our students have the option to travel to 36 countries around the world!

Save

International opportunities are available to all UNB students through our exchange programs, travel-study programs or internships/co-op programs. You can choose between short-term abroad programs ranging from 1-3 weeks and studying or working abroad for a full term and up to a year. We have partners all across the world in both English and non-English speaking countries in Europe, Asia, South America, the Caribbean, Australia and Africa.

If you’re not sure if studying abroad is for you, read below for a few of the many benefits:

Personal growth

Being away from your friends and family is exciting and fascinating, as you are learning how to live in a new culture and adapt to new surroundings. Being immersed in a new culture can be a life-changing adventure, and returning students usually have an increased self-confidence, they know themselves and their capabilities better and have pride in their accomplishments from living abroad.

Work towards your degree

The courses that you take abroad will count towards your UNB degree and are covered by your UNB tuition. Many of the courses are different from those offered at UNB, so it’s a great opportunity for you to take unique courses that are tailored to your interests.

Enhance your career

Only about 1-2% of Canadians study abroad, so being able to speak about this opportunity will make you stand out from your competition when applying for jobs or graduate school. Having an international experience may also boost your employability after graduation. Employers know that students who have lived abroad have developed cross-cultural communication skills, resilience, knowledge of other cultures, and world affairs as well as the ability to adapt to new circumstances and deal with international cultural differences.

Take advantage of this once-in-lifetime opportunity to live what you learn, and experience first-hand the places and cultures you read about in your textbooks.
