Simple changes to save you money!

Heading abroad to study is an adventure, but it doesn’t have to be a costly one.

Here are some tips to help you save money:

1. Choose the UK

Tuition fees vary by country, but in the UK you can save money and apply with just one application for multiple institutions. You can also save money and graduate faster with a three-year bachelor degree. At UoG you can even apply directly, for free, through our Canada based representatives.

2. Do your research

Before you invest time filling out lengthy applications confirm you meet the entry requirements. Also check out early payment discounts and any scholarships you may be eligible for. It’s worth also investigating whether you can still secure local funding if you go abroad and study at the institution(s) you are interested in. You can find most, if not all, of this information online.

3. Do you need a visa?

Visa requirements, fees and deadlines vary by country and your nationality. Find out what you need to pay ahead of time and when it needs to be paid by and how you go about applying. Check the requirements with your new university.

4. Check and keep track of deadlines

Many universities have application deadlines, but remember to check the deadlines for scholarships and any other possible discounts. You may need to complete a separate application form. E.g. whilst UoG has no separate application form for its International Grant Award, to qualify you need to have applied for your course and accepted an offer by the 1st June, guaranteeing you a discount of £2,000 off tuition*.

Use the calendar on your phone to set reminders for important deadlines.

* Subject to eligibility requirements, applicable only to full credit, on-campus degrees for 1st year tuition fees only.
