Tips and tricks to make searching for schools much easier.

Save

It might seem like school just started, but for many students it’s already time to start thinking about graduation and going to post-secondary. With so many universities and colleges out there, how do you decide what’s right for you?

Work Backwards
It can be easy to get overwhelmed thinking about what program you’d like to take and what courses you want to register for. But when it comes to deciding what university might be right for you, it’s a good idea to work backwards, and try to think long term. Knowing what your career goals are and what education you require to get there can help ensure you find a school and program that align with your personal and professional goals.

Make a list
Once you’ve thought about your goals and narrowed down what you want to study in school, dig out the pen and paper or open your notepad app and make a list! Write down the schools and programs you’d like to learn more about and keep track of important information like contact details and application deadlines. Making a list can help you stay organized and keep important information all in one place.

See for yourself
Beyond just finding a school that offers the program you want to take, it’s important to make sure the campus environment is right for you. Many post-secondary institutions host events throughout the year, like an open house, discovery day, or even campus tours that let you explore and see things up close to get a better sense of what it’s like to be a student before you make your decision.
