“Travel far enough, you meet yourself” affirms David Mitchell, who in 2007, was listed among Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World. Bishop’s students have almost unlimited opportunities to find themselves studying at one of more than 500 partner universities, moving from their comfort zone on campus here to a new learning zone abroad.

Bishop’s Mission statement includes the encouragement “to take advantage of opportunities to open themselves to the world” which these students have done and continue to do:

Erica Zucker’s goals for her semester abroad in Fall 2014 were to “travel to France, make new friends, experience French culture and become bilingual, all of which I feel I accomplished. I pushed myself every day to experience something new, be it spending time with the French students in my residence, to planning a trip for the coming weekend. I learned so much about myself as a person, from managing homesickness to staying calm with dealing with stressful situations in a second language. I became stronger and more resilient as each day brought on new challenges that I had to overcome independently. All in all my semester abroad was everything I had hoped it would be and so much more. My short stay in France opened my eyes to the wonderful world of traveling and I am already excited for whatever my next adventure will be!”

Modern Languages student Gabrielle Faucher attended the Universidad de las Américas Puebla for her exchange to Mexico in Fall 2014, “not only did I come back completely fluent in Spanish, but also with a fuller vision of Mexico and Guatemala, their history and culture ... just because I took the time to go out and discover it. This experience has most definitely influenced my life for the better.” To learn more about international opportunities at Bishop’s University please visit: www.ubishops.ca. @UBishops #BleedPurple
