Law Degrees

Law at the Business School of Tomorrow

A Law degree is one of the most adaptable academic qualifications as it will teach you to think logically, articulate clear and concise arguments, and how to use evidence and rules. Law courses from the South Wales Business School will help you prepare for your future within the legal industry and further afield through real-world experiences. You can expect a blend of challenge-based teaching and learning in workshops, simulations, and during placements with both industry partners and the Legal Advice Clinic as employability and industry engagement are at the core of our Law School.

Law at USW is rated top in Wales for academic support, assessment and feedback - NSS 2023

Why study Law with the business school of tomorrow?

Professional Recognition

Our Law degrees will give you a competitive advantage in your career as they focus on the foundations of legal knowledge, as recommended by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board.

Studying LLB Legal Practice (SQE) with the South Wales Business School will not only prepare you to sit the first Solicitor's Qualification Exams, but it will help you to develop the key skills which are essential for lawyers. These skills will also assist you with your SQE2 assessments.

Internships and Placements

We work with the legal services sector to offer valuable work placements which allow you to practise your new legal skills while understanding the realities of the workplace. The Senedd, Citizens Advice, RCT County Borough Council and Hugh James are just some of the work placements which have been undertaken by our LLB Law Students in recent years.

With Clinical Legal Education embedded in all of our courses, every student will be part of the process to enable access to justice under the supervision of practicing solicitors and lecturers at USW’s Legal Advice Clinic.

Consultancy and Industry Links

Our Law School is professional and with employability at the core of its curriculum. Our lecturers and teaching staff have a wealth of experience as they currently work or have worked in the industry.

We also host a range of expert guest speakers who provide context and real-life examples relevant to the topics you will study. As well as our strong industry links, our students can also expect networking opportunities and working lunches.
