Your time in university will be comprised of so many different opportunities and ways to get involved both in and out of the classroom. To make the most out of your time, it’s best to explore all of the different opportunities that your school offers, and participate in different activities.

Get involved during orientation week

One of the first ways to get involved on campus is to participate in orientation week events. These will help you get acquainted with campus while also meeting new people. For instance, Brock hosts one of the great Canadian university traditions — the Grape Stomp! During this orientation week activity, students get to immerse themselves in the grape growing and winemaking industry that the Niagara region is renowned for, by getting messy and stomping on a metric tonne of grapes!

Get involved on-campus

Throughout the year, another way to get involved in your school is through athletics. You can try out for varsity teams, or register to play in an intramural league. You can also join various clubs, ranging from academic to interest-based clubs. For certain programs, there are student associations that organize program-specific events, but many other clubs are open to all to join. There are also many volunteer opportunities, which are a great way to help out your school and community. Last but not least, many on-campus jobs are available, and offer flexibility with your school schedule.

You can also track your involvement through our Campus-Wide Co-Curriculum. It’s comprised of 10 different domains which encourage you to get involved in different areas of campus life.

Overall, there are many different ways to get involved at all schools that will enhance your student experience. Be sure to make the most of your time, and get involved in activities that interest you!
