Respiratory Therapists are crucial members of the health care team who treat and monitor patients' cardiopulmonary needs.
The Respiratory Therapy Integrated Diploma Program, offered jointly by The Michener Institute and Dalhousie University, combines practical, hands-on experience with both on-site and distance learning. Michener has had a long and prestigious history of educating health professionals in the field of Respiratory Therapy. Dalhousie, located in Halifax, renowned as a centre of scientific and research excellence, contributes much to the world's health knowledge base. Once you've earned a Diploma in Health Science (Respiratory Therapy), you have the option of working in the field immediately or completing a Bachelor of Health Science in Respiratory Therapy in just one additional year by distance through Dalhousie. If you prefer, the degree may also be completed on a part-time basis. Ontario Secondary School Diploma required. Also required are four grade 12 University (U) level courses: English (U); Mathematics (U); Biology (U); Chemistry (U); Grade 11 or 12 Physics (U); one University (U) or University/Mixed (U/M) level courses; an overall average of 75% in all the six courses used to meet the admission requirements and no grade lower than 70% in the six prerequisites.
