Description: If you are an arts or science graduate interested in pursuing a Nursing career, our direct-entry master's program is designed especially for you. This program leads to a Master of Science (Applied) in Nursing and is specifically tailored to the university graduate with a general degree and no previous preparation in nursing or any other health-care profession. The program, with its important clinical / practice component, began in 1974 and remains the only one of its kind in Canada.

This unique program has a long-standing reputation for fostering excellence, creativity and flexibility in its graduates. It features close collaboration between faculty and students, where students are encouraged to critically examine traditional practices and develop innovative approaches in every dimension of health care.

Students first have an intensive 10-month qualifying year of study. At this time, complementary courses in either the biomedical or social sciences are selected depending on your previous undergraduate studies. You will also be actively involved in nursing courses and will work with the elderly, young families and ill adults in hospitals and community settings. Following successful completion of the qualifying year, students apply to continue their studies in the M.Sc.(A.) Direct-Entry Year 1 and 2.
