|Description:||The Power Engineering online program through Blackboard is a system that provides students with a quick assessment of their academic achievement while they proceed at their own speed, on their own schedule.
The online system is flexible and accommodates the needs of all students including shift workers. Extended hours and the ability for students to access the system from home or work are features designed to make the training as accessible as possible.
Keyano College currently offers online courses for the following programs:
* 4th Class Power Engineering
* 3rd Class Power Engineering
The Power Engineering online program provides access to a comprehensive computer question bank that is designed to prepare students to write the ABSA exams. The online program is supplemented by tutorial assistance offered by qualified instructors.
In all courses, students can be confident that they are mastering the material as they move through their course modules. After a question assignment is issued, the student must provide answers before the next assignment is given. The student is allowed to proceed to the next lesson if they score 80% or better. If student answers score less the 80%, the student is issued a new and different set of questions on the same lesson. Two attempts on any one quiz are allowed. If 80% is not achieved on the second attempt the student must contact an instructor so that the system can be reset. In this way the student is assured that they have mastered the course material before proceeding.
Each course is divided into sections. Part A and B. There are six supervised tests and two exams for each section. Students can only write the supervised tests and exams after the required modules have been mastered.
Students can enrol at any time and have one year from the date signed up to complete both Part A and B theory. A total of two three-month extensions may be obtained.
