Description: Occupational health and safety is a legal requirement for all machine shops. Therefore, the unique OHAS 18001 standard has been developed worldwide in order to protect the employees against potential safety hazards. Regardless of your occupation; current or desired position; and knowledge of health and safety acts and regulations, and workplace practices; a course in occupational health and safety may save your life in emergency situations. This course may expand and improve your job opportunities when applying for a higher-paid position.

Examples of topics covered in this course are introduction to OHAS 18001, shop safety rules and practices, introduction to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), interaction with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and reduction of accidents and insurance rates. This course consists of 20 hours of instruction to be completed in four Saturdays or Sundays.
